My Story

Like everyone else, my “story” has included a series of personal transitions, which have formed the person/professional I am today.  A former "Navy Brat", I spent most of my youth moving between R.I. and VA every few years.  A year after I graduated from Mount Vernon H.S. in Alexandria, VA, my dad was transferred to the NROTC unit at Auburn University, where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Interior Design in 1973.  I moved to Jacksonville and worked for several architectural firms doing commercial space planning and interior design before opening my own Interior Design Firm, Integrated Design Services, Inc. in 1977.  I married my former husband in 1980 and my three amazing children, Forrest, Megan and Mandy arrived over the next 6 years.  I loved being a stay-at-home mom, designing occasional free-lance projects, as we raised our children in NW St. Johns County where all three excelled in the local public schools and went on to earn college scholarships.  Forrest now lives here in Jacksonville and is a trial attorney, Megan lives in Austin TX where she is a successful Life Coach, and Mandy, also self-employed, her husband, Josh, and my Grandson, John, live in Denver.

I spent 20 years in and out of the design field, and earned my MBA from Jacksonville University in 1995 as my marriage was coming to an end.  I started a new career as the Senior Construction Project Manager facilitating the total realignment of over 1 million square feet of office space for the Barnett Bank transition to Bank of America for 6 stressful years.  I finally left the corporate world to start my "dream career" selling residential real estate in 2003.  Now I apply my marketing, design and management skills to helping my clients prepare their homes for market and/or helping them find or build the perfect home for them.  I love the constant challenge, but unlimited potential my real estate career offers, and enjoy the ability to meet and work with a diverse group of buyers and sellers, many of whom I now consider friends.

These days I especially enjoy working with clients interested in new construction, a niche market where I can use my design background to help them select and design their new home and my real estate experience to get them the best deal. Most importantly, I can protect their interests in an exclusive, single agent capacity, while the site agent represents only the interests of the builder.

“We were really impressed with how much advertising (your company) put into selling our home. We were especially impressed with Lynn and her thoroughness. She was always on top of everything, which gave us one less thing to worry about. You can tell that Lynn is one of your seasoned sales reps. We were concerned at first about listing and all of the commissions, but now that we’ve seen what you could do for us, helping us get close to our asking price, we are glad we listed with you.”  B. Gomez

“Lynn went above and beyond what we could have ever expected of her. Lynn’s assistance in our search for a home was invaluable. Our home viewing tour was exceptionally well coordinated, which allowed us to see a large number of homes in less than two days. As a result of Lynn’s efforts, we are confident that the selection we made is the right house, at the right price, in the right neighborhood, and in the right school district. We understand that the process of buying a home is always subject to being stressful and frustrating at times but having Lynn Abbott as our Realtor certainly minimized the negative effect of the rough spots.” J. Brummett

Additionally, she was patient and considerate to my needs for a new home, appropriately recommending areas of the city that might offer the best value.
