2020 Happy New Year Open House

I welcomed the New Year, as well as all of my Homestead neighbors, to an open house and a lucky New Year’s Day feast featuring Hoppin’ John (Black-eyed peas and rice), Southern Collard greens and spiral cut ham. Dessert of course included my famous Rum Cake and Neiman Marcus cookies. It was fun meeting some new neighbors and comparing notes on our building experience. We all agreed that Rivertown is the friendliest neighborhood around (especially Homestead), and that there is no better value in NE Florida. I was disappointed to miss the New Year’s Eve neighborhood crawl the night before due to my knee problems, A large group of neighbors visited 10 homes in the neighborhood, all with different games and culinary delights. Feedback has shown it to be quite a fun night and I’m hoping to make it next year!!

Big Changes are Underway at the Sales Center!

The RiverTown Sales Center is “Under Construction”. In addition to adding a separate office for the WaterSong project, all displays have been removed and a new display highlighting the RiverTown Lifestyle is coming soon. Can’t wait to see the finished product!!

RiverTown Luau 2019

We attended the annual RiverTown Luau, held at the RiverClub on the St. Johns River. It was originally scheduled for Labor Day, but was rescheduled thanks to Hurricane Dorian. Prince Pele and his Polynesian Dancers entertained us with dancing, audience participation and line dancing. The dancers ranged from his granddaughters, aged 6 and 8, to his five daughters, and his wife, Bless. It’s definitely a family affair! Hundreds of RiverTown residents enjoyed an afternoon of swimming, eating (Food Trucks were present), Limbo, and hula-hoops.

January 8 Pre-Drywall Home Inspection

Once the trades-electric, plumbing, and mechanical (HVAC) finished their rough installations and before the Pre-Drywall walk through with my builder, I had a home inspector check out the completed work. While he found a few minor issues, I was able to point everything out to my builder during our walk-through the next day and all were corrected prior to the county inspection. My inspector, Charlie Hovey with 904 Home Inspections, was impressed with the quality of construction, including 2 x 6” exterior walls and shear walls located all around the laundry room and master bathroom which were later insulated for sound control.

November 30 Customer Appreciation Party

I hosted a Customer Appreciation Dance Party at the River House venue in RiverTown back in November of 2019. About 75 friends and family enjoyed my home-cooked barbeque ribs and fixin’s, desserts (including my famous Rum Cake), a DJ and dancing. Several friends and family members helped me set up and keep the food flowing. The venue has a refrigerator, microwave, and plenty of tables to set up for dining. We pulled all of the lounge seating to the back of the room to create a dance floor and guests, including my fellow Rivertown Dancers, led by instructor Tony Paolucci got many of the other guests up to dance the night away! I myself lasted on the dance floor only a short while, exhausted from days of cooking and preparation. Next time I’m calling the caterer!
